Monster Magnet Vs. Cream, Who Ya Got?

The funny thing about being a musician is that you start to pick up things within music.  Not only things like perfect pitch, but also noticing musical patterns within songs.  Some time ago, I actually noticed similarities between two songs I liked.  Now the Internet is full of sites that say which band ripped off another band, but I had not seen these two posted before.

We have Monster Magnet:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monster_Magnet

Versus Cream (also known as that band that Eric Clapton was in for a short time.)

Oops.  Wrong Cream.

Back in the late 60's Cream had a song called, "Tales of Brave Ulysses."

And in 1995 Monster Magnet released the really cool song, "Negasonic Teenage Warhead."

Does something sound similar?  I think so.  I have to admit that I love both songs.  However, you can sing the lyrics to "Tales of Brave Ulysses" to the music of "Negasonic Teenage Warhead."

But that's what my ears hear.  What do you hear America?

  2. Ditto! I had Monster Magnet playing in the background while doing some work, and the lyrics to Ulysses kept running through my head.
